Thousands of students from across New South Wales visited Knox last week to participate in the State da Vinci Decathlon.
Knox Grammar School
This year's theme was 'Unity', which was fitting, as the event has brought students back together in the Great Hall after four years of virtual competitions.
Director of da Vinci Decathlon, Mrs Sherry Bieman, said 4,080 students and about 400 teachers visited Knox to partake in the Decathlon.
More than 150 teams participated daily over the three days for students in Years 5-11.
Inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, the Decathlon includes ten discipline tasks; some seen in the classroom, while others not, which include: English, maths, science, legacy, ideation, code breaking, cartography, creative producers, engineering and Art and Poetry.
The competition is designed to incorporate creativity, collaboration, communication and teamwork.
Mrs Tammy Paterson, Head of Teaching and Learning at the Prep School, said across the ten papers and keeping in line with creative, critical thinking, many of the tasks required the students to come up with solutions to authentic problems faced in our world today.
"The da Vinci Decathlon is not just a test of academic strength. It is as much about a team’s ability to work collaboratively together, negotiating, communicating and organising their time and our boys turned out to be champions on the day."
