For the first time ever, a primary school team from Australia has made it to the World Championship Finals in VEX Robotics – and that team was from our very own Knox Grammar Preparatory School.

Qualifying for Worlds as a wildcard entry, following their participation in the Australian National Championships in December, the Prep team – team High-Q – was able to progress to the championship finals, before going on to achieve a ninth place ranking in what has become the world’s biggest robotics competition.
Held in Dallas, Texas, High-Q, who formed just nine months ago, competed in the VEX World division play-offs, taking part in ten alliance matches. Climbing through the ranks, our students finished in first place as division champions with their highest score of the entire competition, an outstanding 269 points!
As a result of being the first-seeded team, the Knox team qualified to compete with nineteen other teams in 'The Dome,' with over 20,000 spectators and a global online audience of millions of viewers from around the world tuning in. This was a tremendous opportunity for the team to showcase their skills on a global stage, and they certainly didn't disappoint. Their remarkable achievement speaks to their commitment to excellence and their unwavering passion for Robotics.
The students also competed in a skills competition where they demonstrated outstanding driving and coding skills and a depth of determination which was remarkable for their age. Team High-Q achieved a combined score that placed them in the top 6.6 per cent of all participating teams.
Upon heading home to Australia, the Qantas team arranged for our boys to visit the flight deck with the Captain.
We are incredibly proud of what our Robotics students have accomplished, and we can't wait to see what they will achieve next. Congratulations boys!
