Cheered on by the Knox Tartan Army and inspired by speeches at the send off assembly, the Knox team lit up the track and field for their third successive second placing at the annual Combined Associated Schools Athletics Championships.

We are proud of this Knox Track and Field team in 2024 and their performance is a fitting way to celebrate our centenary of athletics. The team showed great spirit and fought hard, winning the last event - the open 4x100 metres relay!
Congratulations to Year 8 student, James, who set two new CAS records in the 13 Years 90m Hurdles – 12.57s and 13 Years 100m – 11.76s, and Knox athletes won the following 28 events:
“Many boys made sacrifices to run, jump and throw in multiple events and above their own age group to maximise points for the team. These are selfless acts to potentially forgo records and victories in particular events. This event is all about ‘team’”, said Mr Martin Haywood, Head of Knox Sports and Aquatic Academy.
Applause to all debutants and especially Brody from Year 5 in the 13 years 1500m and to Alexander for his performance in the 16 years 100m Multi-class event.
Mr Haywood also said “thank you to the amazing group of Year 12 Athletes. They have brought so much to this team and will be dearly missed.”
A foundation sport at Knox, Track and Field holds a special place in the School’s history. The Knox team has won the Andrew Reid Challenge Cup on 29 occasions, four more times than nearest rival, Waverley College. Knox first won this prestigious event in 1929 and last won in 2008. This year we congratulate Trinity Grammar School on their seventh consecutive win of the Andrew Reid Challenge Cup.
