A Year 11 Boarder from Knox Grammar School has been acknowledged for his contributions to the community with a national boarding award.
Dylan Farr, who is a Gamilaroi descendent from the Walgett area was awarded the Australian Indigenous Boarding Award 2022.
The award celebrates Dylan’s exceptional contribution including sharing his culture at School through language, dance and art.
His participation and contribution to the School’s Aboriginal Dance Group, led by Uncle Den Barber, has demonstrated leadership and a pride and passion to demonstrate the importance of dance as storytelling, lore and identity to fellow boarders and staff, to his community and the wider community of the school.

“We were motivated to invent a tool that would help the community and society, by making an application not just for us students,” said Daniel (Year 11). “From what I’ve observed, our Student Administration Officer takes a lot of phone calls about student absence, and she could have more time to be focused on more meaningful tasks.”
