For International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, we hosted two key events to inspire our community to take action in making positive change, in line with this year’s theme, Accelerate Action.
Knox Grammar School
Earlier in the week, Knox held the annual IWD breakfast at the KCC Auditorium. Those attending the breakfast included Ravenswood School for Girls students, Mala Mehta OAM, Catherine Knox (Chair of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter), Angelica Molina (Shelter Manager at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter), and students and staff of Knox.
Angelica spoke of the importance of recognising that women already have the power, capability and efficacy within themselves, and that empowerment is not about giving women power, but about helping women see their power.
On Thursday, we heard from several voices of women at the IWD Assembly. A part of the assembly was a series of interviews with women of Knox.
“I think the most meaningful action a boy can take is to model their behaviour on the school’s values, when they are at school and outside of school,” said Head of Community Relations, Events and Communications, Megan Bailey. “The school values are important because having true respect for everyone, regardless of gender, means you can form an environment where everybody feels they are being treated equally.”
Team Leader of the Class of 2025, Clare Yuan reflected on the strong moral compass of the students, and encouraged the boys to stay true to themselves and their core value of integrity after they go out into the world as a graduate.
