In remembrance of those that sacrificed for their country, our School community was honoured to take part in various Anzac Day events.
Students from the Knox Ravenswood Army Cadet Unit, Knox Pipes and Drums, and Knox Academy of Performing Arts paid tribute to servicemen and women of Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand at the following services.
Members of the Knox Ravenswood Army Cadet Unit (KRACU) were out across a variety of locations participating in Anzac Day commemorations. The first contingent was a squad of 20 flag ensigns as part of the Australian Army Cadets NSW 2nd Brigade, with 100 Flags leading the Anzac March in Sydney’s CBD. The KRACU Cadets formed an impressive display, wearing their balmorals, with the senior cadets in their MacPherson kilts.
At the request of Alister Henskens MP, a second contingent of cadets formed a guard at the Anzac commemorations at Wahroonga Park, where our cadets were joined by cadets from Barker College. They were a fitting addition to the Knox Grammar bugler and the OKGA piper that are a central part of the service.
As has become tradition, two catafalque parties participated at services at the Warrawee Bowling Club and The Landings Retirement, where the students mounted the cenotaphs and displayed expert sword drill, with the rest on arms adding a particularly special touch to these services.
Our cadets also represented the Unit during the Hornsby RSL service. They marched from Hornsby RSL to the Cenotaph, where they laid the wreath.
The Knox Grammar School Pipes and Drums arrived at St Stephen’s Church in the city to start the Anzac morning with breakfast. Year 12 parents joined the group at the church, allowing them to spend this special time with their sons who were marching in their last CBD parade with the band. This link with St Stephen’s is now a special part of Knox’s 100-year history. The weather was extremely favourable, and the boys lined up in the band chute for a 10am call and commenced marching at around 11am. The boys formed an impressive unit and were sandwiched between the 2nd 17th Royal NSW Regiment, famous for their kilter ALPHA Company, and the Special Air Service. Both enjoyed the steady beat of the pipes and drums.
Following the march, the boys stopped for refreshments ahead of the massed bands march back down George Street, to commemorate the ‘Scottish Act of Remembrance’ at the main cenotaph in Martin Place. This is an impressive sight with approximately 16 bands joining in to form a sight that fills George Street. The boys headed back to St Stephen’s and played a quick tune for Reverend Day to show their appreciation. Overall, it was a very successful day.
Between 21-28 April, six Knox Academy of Performing Arts (KAPA) trumpet players in Years 9-12, represented Knox Grammar School across 15 various community Anzac Day and Memorial Services. It is a tremendous honour for trumpet players to ‘sound’ these calls for such meaningful and prestigious commemorations.

We look forward to seeing and hearing our Year 12s, Linden and Michael, perform their bugle calls at the Knox Grammar School Anzac Memorial Service for the Old Knox Grammarians’ Association and the Ceremonial Parade of the Knox Ravenswood Army Cadet Unit that will be held on Sunday 17 May.
The community is invited to attend this annual event that will commence at 8.30am. The service will take place in the Great Hall, followed by the Ceremonial Parade on Knox 1 Oval (pending weather).

We recently welcomed an incredible 157 teams from schools across Sydney, New South Wales and the ACT to the 2026 NSW Knox da Vinci Decathlon. We thank all participants and accompanying staff for joining us from 12-14 May in the Great Hall and for contributing to such a positive and intellectually vibrant atmosphere.
